For the Love of the Craft

by MikalFM. Average Reading Time: less than a minute.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again- thank you to the world’s best community and advisors.

Tomorrow Qworky presents at Northwest Entrepreneur Network’s First Look Forum, an event designed to give qualified investors a first look at the hottest companies in the Northwest. Getting to this point has been a sacrifice and labor of love of everyone involved.

For those who don’t know Qworky is a little bit different. We’re a startup that is developing software as a startup the right way- Market researched, end-user tested, with agile development methodologies.

We are craftspeople dedicated to and in love with what we do. Tomorrow we’ll aim to bring home a win but no matter what, win or lose Wednesday we will arise with a new passion for bringing Better Software to a Better World.

Thank you for joining us on this journey,

Mikal

Yeah really. Not to sound like a broken record but thank you, thank you, thank you. The help we get from our community and advisors is truly amazing — and gratefully appreciated.

The NWEN First Look Forum is a great opportunity for a startup like ours. We’re all on pins and needles awaiting the big event. Mikal’s done a great job of infusing our presentation with Qworkiness and I’m optimistic that we’ll get a good response today. Of course, we’ve gotten a huge amount of value from the First Look Forum already. Still, I feel the way I always do before a big pitch: I really, really hope they like it.

We’ll keep you updated. Stay tuned!

w00t! we’re in the finals! go Mikal!!!!!!!

All of the finalists’ presentations were good, and the eventual winners were InsideTrip — which started in 2008, has dealis with Orbitz and American, press from the NY Times, CNN, MSNBC, and oodles of other places, and is founded by the guy who sold FareCast to Microsoft for $115M. Oh well. Hard to argue with that. They deserved to win.

Still, it was a great outcome. MWe made it to the finals against some very tough competition — beating out several companies that had a lot more traction in the market than we do. Yay us! The folks who had seen earlier versions of our presentation were really impressed with our progress; we were invited to present to several angel funders; everybody I talked to said “please let me know once it’s in beta and I can try it”; and folks were really impressed by Mikal’s presentation skills. So I’m very very pleased.

Props to Mikal, who more then held his own in a situation where many of the presenters are serial entrepreneurs with tons of experience, and to the whole team for backing it up.

Props to the team as a whole for what we’ve accomplished!

And thanks once again to the best advisors and community in the startup world!

And today I woke up more motivated than ever to deliver Better Software / Better World.
    :-)

    Congratulations InsideTrip

FedEx founder received a C- for his FedEx business plan. So I think we’re ahead of the curve by making the final 5!
